these are delicious!  i know, it’s just apples and some caramel sauce but really it’s so good.  well since we still have a bunch of apples, i decided to make my own apple dippers.  i guess it’s really just cutting up some apples and making the caramel sauce but still, i was excited.

my friend tammy, recently posted a recipe for caramel sauce on her blog wham! bam! it’s chef tam tam! and she gave it rave reviews so i decided to try it out.  and the verdict?

i definitely agree with her.  this is caramel sauce is amazing!  i was a bit worried about trying to make my own caramel but it really wasn’t too difficult.  the caramel was smooth and creamy and perfect with the apple slices.  ooo and it was even better with a little salt sprinkled on top – you know like salted caramel.  yum!

to make the caramel, boil the sugar and water in a medium saucepan…

keep boiling it until it reaches 350 degrees F – use a candy therometer for this and then once it turns an amber color add the heavy cream…

whisk it together and once it’s combined, take it off the heat and add the vanilla.  then the caramel is done!  yay!
