the last time i tried to make hot dog buns it did not work out at all. they were crumbly and dense and completely fell apart when you put in the hot dog. yuck! so i kind of just gave up on the idea and just made pretzel dogs or bought hot dog buns from the store. but hot dog buns were the last bread product that we still bought from the grocery store, since now i just make our own hamburger buns, sandwich bread, english muffins, etc.
fortunately, this all changed since i recently found a new recipe for hot dog buns. i figured i’d give it a try and i am so glad that i did because they turned out wonderful. they were tender and soft but sturdy enough to hold the hot dog plus all of the toppings. these are much better than store bought hot dog buns and now we don’t have to buy any kind bread from the store. yippee!!!
oh and we like our hot dogs with bbq sauce, cheese, and fried onions. yum!
