i am back home in hawaii and can i tell you how wonderful it is to be back. not only is it great being able to hang out with my family and friends but i get to cook and bake in my mom and dad’s kitchen that is stocked with every kitchen gadget, pot, pan, tool, etc. and ingredient that you need. it is absolutely amazing! it’s just so much easier to cook and bake when everything you need is right there.
today was the first full day that i’ve spent here and i have already baked up a storm. first i made party mix for my friends, saskia and katrien who are home for the holidays. it was one of their special requests and i totally understand why because i love party mix! but i’ve only really had this party mix here in hawaii and can’t seem to find it anywhere on the mainland. i have thought about making some in dc before but it’s kind of hard without a big bowl that fits in the oven or i would have to get big aluminum trays or something to make it in. but it was easy peasy to make here cause my mom has a humongous bowl that we used to make this batch. fortunately my mom sends me some every so often and when she does, it’s usually gone pretty quickly. it’s a wonderful mixture of sweet and salty and you can really put in any kind of chip or cereal you want. the big thing is the sauce! yummy!
