last weekend, my boyfriend and i went apple picking.  it was fun but what we were really excited about was coming back and making apple pie.  i was actually never a big fan of apple pie until i had my boyfriend’s mom’s apple pie.  it was absolutely heavenly.  it is one of our most requested dishes when we go up to maine, but since we can’t go up all the time, i learned how to make our own apple pie.

i didn’t have a premade pie crust in the freezer so i tried to make my own.  it turned out okay, but make sure not to make pie crust in a hot kitchen.  eeek.  next time hopefully it’ll turn out better.  also, sadly our oven freaks out sometimes and it burnt the top but amazingly the crumb topping didn’t taste burnt at all.  yay!  all in all, our apple pie was delicious.  oh, and for just a bit more decadence try it with a little fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
